Kars4Kids: What is your work title?
Shana Joselit: Assistant Manager of the advertising department at Kars4Kids.
Kars4Kids: When did you begin working at Kars4Kids and why?
Shana Joselit: I began working here in August 2013 as a bookkeeper. At the time I was studying to be an accountant and thought it would be good experience to get a bookkeeping job.
About a year and a half later I felt I had mastered the job and was looking to move on to a more challenging environment. It was then that I was offered to become assistant manager of the Kars4Kids advertising department. With more responsibility and a diverse workload, the job sounded enticing and I thought, “Go for it!”
Since then, I’ve been extremely happy at my job.
Kars4Kids: How has Kars4Kids changed since you joined the team?
Shana Joselit: The organization continues to grow each year. Besides constantly improving our advertising for car donations, we’ve expanded to accept other forms of donations such as real estate. We want to be able to help as many children as possible and are always searching for more opportunities that will enable us to accomplish this mission.
Kars4Kids: Describe a typical workday for you at Kars4Kids.
Shana Joselit: When I was a bookkeeper I had a pile of work to be done and once I got through it that was it. In the advertising department at Kars4Kids, every day there is something different. My work is so diverse: from negotiating radio and television contracts; brainstorming new advertising ideas; analyzing current marketing campaigns to make sure we remain profitable; working on ways to grow the company … there’s always something to do. Since I have a background in accounting, I help out with the annual audit as well as with other financial aspects of the company.
Kars4Kids: How do you balance work and home life?
Shana Joselit: I don’t find it so challenging at this point in my life. I was always a hard worker growing up and love being busy so I don’t find it an issue.
Kars4Kids: What’s the first thing you do when you come home from work?
Shana Joselit: On my way home from work I typically run some errands or visit friends. My husband comes home much later than I do so I have the luxury of unwinding before I need to get supper in the oven.
Kars4Kids: What do you see as the future of Kars4Kids?
Shana Joselit: We’re always expanding and looking for more opportunities to assist our many children. That being said, whatever we plan on next, you can count on it being Kars4Kids-style- innovative and original!
